Plus Ca Change

Too long ago even for me, but there used to be streetcars in Denver, Brooklyn, and cities across the country. The government, wanting to be modern or something, eliminated them all. Today Denver is proposing an innovation--a streetcar! The first one would go on Colfax Ave. They are advocated because they "provide higher economic benefits" than buses and are cheaper to construct than light-rail.
Guess how much this innovation of putting a streetcar back along city streets would cost? $10-$50 million (quite a stretch there) per mile.

  1. They certainly look cute, but colfax? They will seems really out of place? I wonder if students from East will use it to go out to lunch! I remember driving 10 blocks down Colfax to lunch because it was too gross to walk down. Umm...what does Plus Ca mean? :)?

  2. You've got a real good point there, Sab. It probably won't be cheap to ride this trolley so it has to have good destinations. People do take the light rail from the suburbs because they can park and ride and get to work or theatre, but what attractions are there along Colfax?
Plus Ca change refers to "the more things change, the more they remain the same;" aka "Nothing new under the sun," as per the Book of Kohelet.
